GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

     
Advanced E.T. License. Any car running 7.499 or quicker must be certified by NHRA for advanced E.T. Deep staging is not allowed. Racer must be entered in another class before entering the Quick 16 program.

NO ELECTRONICS-STREET: This class is for the novice racer. It is for cars running 13.00-19.99.  The class is open to any racer, however the participating car may not run in any class.  Cars participating in this class may not use electronics.  Electronics must be completely removed from the car.  Prohibited are: computer (unless stock OEM equipment), data recorders, delay boxes, transbrakes, line lock (two wheel line lock permitted on non-drive wheels only), automated shifter (unless OEM equipped). Throttle must be manually operated by the drivers foot. Stutter boxes are prohibited, single stage rev limiters permitted. Tow vehicles are prohibited and mufflers are required.  

JR. DRAGSTER: This class is open to any and all Jr. Dragster Competitors that hold an NHRA Jr. Dragster Driver's Certificate and have a minor release form on file with NHRA and Thunder Valley Raceway. All NHRA Rules and Regulations for the Jr. Dragster Category are in effect where E.T. rules, safety rules and driver conduct are concerned. Please be familiar with NHRA Jr. Dragster rules and regulations before you begin racing with us. Competitors in Jr. Dragster will be laddered for round one by the Compulink Timing System Computer. Racers will be laddered according to the best non-red reaction time in,qualifying rounds. Lane choice for round one goes to the lower qualified car based on best non-red reaction time in the previous round of eliminations. or qualifying round. Lane choice for all remaining rounds of competition is awarded to the car going closest to its dial-in in the previous round of competition. Deep staging is allowed. Only one chance will be given to re-stage a car. The driver must accept the tree upon staging for a second time regardless of how he or she is staged.

The following rules and regulations will pertain to all categories unless specifically noted. The rules and regulations for competition may or may not differ from the NHRA Rulebook. Thunder Valley Raceway rules and regulations for competition are in place to provide a fair and level playing field for all racers participating in the Thunder Valley Raceway Drag Racing Series. Each competitor should be familiar with these items before competing at Thunder Valley.

TECH CARDS: Every driver must fill out a tech card for each class he or she participates. All tech cards must be completely filled out, or they will not be accepted at tech inspection. Additionally, the driver must sign the front of the tech card.

 

 

 

POINTS PROGRAM: Thunder Valley Raceway Park provides a points program for its bracket racers, Pro Street Shootout racers, and High School Drag racers. The points will run for the entire course of the year.

 The racers with the greatest number of points at the end of the year are  honored at the annual banquet in December. If you wish to enter the Thunder Valley points program, you must complete a registration form and turn it in to the Pit Gate prior to gaining points. Bracket race points registration are $25.00, $15.00 for Jr. Dragsters, and $5.00 for high School racers. Pro Street Racers must be a member of the Pro Street Racing Association.

Points are awarded in the following fashion: Each time you purchase a tech card you are awarded five points. Every time Win a round during eliminations., you will be awarded five points. For example, if you purchase a tech card and win round one you have earned 10 points. If you are eliminated in the fourth round, you will have earned 20 points. 

Racers will accumulate points in al O'Reilly Auto Parts Bracket Racing events. The top 50 points earners will be a part of the E.T. Bracket Finals team that will compete at the Summit E.T. Finals at the end of the season. Each driver will be eligible for one spot on the team for each class he or she has gained points. To participate in the E.T. Bracket finals, all racers must be a member of the NHRA and have a NHRA competition license or competition number.  The cut off date for going to the bracket finals will be September 7th.  Bracket finals will be held at the Texas Motorplex the weekend of September 28th.

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will begin at the time scheduled. Every effort will be made to provide a fair amount of time trials for each racer before elimination's. There is no guarantee on the number of sessions offered. Racers should allow themselves plenty of time to make at least one time trial at an event. Time trials will not be offered to any driver after eliminations. begin unless he or she has purchased a time trial tech card from the pit gate. Time trials will not be offered until after the completion of the second round of eliminations.

RUN ORDER: The standard order for time trials and eliminations. is as follows: Jr. Dragster, Super Pro, No Electronics, Pro, No E - Street, Quick 16. This run order may be altered to accommodate additional classes, weather conditions, and car count. Stay tuned to the track PA system to be aware of any changes.

STAGING LANES: Once you are at the front of staging, you are required to be ready to race at that point. Ample time will be given to set delay boxes, tires, and such, but the driver must be in the car, strapped-in and wearing all safety equipment. You will be moved quickly to the racing area after you have been instructed to do so, Please be courteous to your fellow racers by being ready to race at the front of staging.
